Outline turns your personal server into a connection you can add to a device by pasting a single access key. It works inside the MeduzaVPN apps and in the official Outline client.
What Outline is
Outline is an open-source project built on the Shadowsocks transport. Instead of certificates and profiles it uses one access key — a line of text that carries everything a client needs, which makes it the easiest protocol to move between devices.
On your MeduzaVPN server Outline runs in its own isolated container, alongside the other protocols. You can connect with the MeduzaVPN apps, which carry their own engine for it, or with the official Outline client on platforms where you prefer that.

Outline questions
What is an access key?
A single line starting with ss:// that contains your server address, port and secret. Anything you paste it into can connect, which is what makes Outline convenient — and why the key should be treated like a password.
Do I need the official Outline app?
No. The MeduzaVPN apps connect to Outline themselves. The official client is simply an alternative if you already use it or want it on a platform where you prefer it.
How is Outline different from Shadowsocks?
They share the same transport, so on the wire they are close relatives. The difference is packaging: Outline wraps it in a single access key and a polished client, while Shadowsocks is usually configured field by field.
Can I use Outline on several devices?
Yes. The same key works on all of your devices; how many connect at once depends on your plan rather than on the protocol.
Does Outline hide that I am using a VPN?
Its traffic is less obviously a VPN than classic protocols, but it is not built to defeat determined inspection. On networks that actively block VPNs, try MeduzaVPN ULTRA or the MeduzaVPN protocol instead.
